Des and a group of local runners took part in the Spar Budapest Marathon on the 11th October.

23,450 competitors took part in scorching 28 degree heat, this did not help the Irish contingent but the group finished strong.  Three weeks before the race the dates were changed due to local elections being held in Budapest so there was a scramble to change flights and hotel bookings. The group left on the Friday before the race and arrived with not much time to prepare.

It was tough going due to the heat but everyone ran well and finished strong. The group stayed on until Monday and got to sample the sights, sounds and tastes that Budapest has to offer.
