Type: Hunting

  • A well-proven projectile type still favoured by many today. High to very high energy output in game. Somewhat stronger fragmentation, therefore exit holes are not always present. Very good stopping effect. Frequently used in battues because of the above reasons and because of a certain insensitivity to minor obstacles. With round or pointed projectile tip.

    Construction soft point-bullet

Lead core for optimal adaption of the deformation to the game's body

Round or pointed bullet tip for high stability

    Tombac-plated steel jacket

    .223 Rem.

The .223 Rem. - loaded with 3.56 g bullets - shows best performance

in hunting roe deer and fox and can be well used up to 200 m. The

performance and the hunting uses are practically identical with

the .222 Rem., however the .223 Rem. is somewhat stronger. In selfloading rifles the .223 Rem. achieves excellent precision.

Due to its high precision, it is also an excellent sport-shooting

    cartridge.

The original .223 Rem. replaced the 7.62 Nato (.308 Win.) as military

cartridge. At about the same time, Remington put it on the market

also as a cartridge for the civil use.
